The AXA Style Experts Expo is underway with over 1000 advisers taking the opportunity to attend the first of the events in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide last week. The AXA Style Experts Expo comprises two components main platform presentations from investment managers and economic experts; and a comprehensive investment exhibition. New York based Kevin Boreen, Senior Portfolio Manager Bernstein, concluded the main platform presentations with an international insight into the benefits of global approach to investing. There are many reasons for investing in home markets they provide a degree of comfort and familiarity, said Mr. Boreen. However, it is the global perspective that will ultimately provide the best returns for investors. The traditional view to global investing identifies the best stocks within regions; allocates weight to the regions; and then bolts together a portfolio. Bernstein prefers an integrated view by selecting the best stocks across global sectors; de-emphasizing geographical boundaries; and adopting a one world portfolio focussing on highest return opportunities. Kevin Boreens presentation ended with an overview of the benefits of a global outlook; the currency mismatch risk from global investing is easily and inexpensively managed and global investing increases alpha potential.
