Just an hour from downtown Brisbane, Lake Wivenhoe is a spectacular water reserve, northwest of Brisbane. A visit to this scenic natural area offers a peaceful and tranquil outing complete with panoramic views of the lake. The enormous Lake Wivenhoe was completed in 1985 and is extremely good for fishing, boating, camping, picnics and swimming. - Cormorant Bay: General picnic area with space for 200 cars features: electric barbecues, wood barbecues, toilet facilities, shelter sheds, picnic tables and a kiosk and a licensed restaurant. - Fig Tree Lookout: Includes toilets, lookout of the Dam and Lake area, wood barbecues, parking for approximately 50-70 cars and landscaped area. - Spillway Common: An unstructured area suitable for large groups such as social clubs or sporting clubs for an afternoons outing. Tentage may be erected for the purposes of such outings but no overnight camping is available. Other facilities include toilets; a tennis court (net hire available), cricket oval and children's play area. - Logan Inlet: A picnicking and boat launching area, space for approximately 100 cars, with toilet facilities, gas barbecues, wood barbecues, a concrete boat ramp and kiosk. - Captain Logan's Camp: A camping area with space for 57 fixed campsites, toilet and shower facilities available. No provision for large caravans, on-site camp manager. - Lumley Hill Camping Area: Adjacent to Captain Logan Camp, features include 10 powered sites and 9 fixed campsites, toilet and shower facilities available. Provisions for large caravans. - Hays Landing: An informal picnicking site with a boat ramp suitable for small to medium craft. Toilet facilities and wood burning barbecues available.
