Rugged hillsides, with stately hoop pines projecting above the surrounding vegetation plunge steeply into the sea. Rhyolite boulders, lasting evidence of volcanic activity millions of years ago, scatter the headlands. Between the rocky headlands are broad, sandy beaches where Kangaroos can often be seen in the early morning and late afternoon, and if you don't mind sharing the beach with a kangaroo, then Cape Hillsborough is a rare piece of Australian bushland that is worth a visit. The national park is scattered with walking paths of varying lengths. One of the popular walks is the Jupiera Aboriginal Trail, a 1.2 kilometre self-guiding trail which illustrates how Aboriginal people used the park's native plants for survival. Located at Hidden Valley you can walk or drive to beginning of the trails head. The Beachcomber Cove track passes through hoop pine and vine forest with scenic views of the cove. Views of the coastline, Casuarina Bay and Hillsborough Channel reward walkers from lookouts on the 2.6 kilometre (one way) Andrews Point Track, it is not rare to spot turtles and sea birds on this walk. With eucalyptus forests, hoop pine, creeks, mangroves, hills and headlands, the park overflows with 150 species of Birdlife and tropical butterflies. Wallabies and bush turkeys are frequent visitors to the beach so you can get up close for a great picture. Find a grassy patch on the headland and take in the sensational view of Queensland's rugged coastline. Cape Hillsborough Nature Resort is a haven nestled in the forest, and surrounded by the beautiful Cape Hillsborough National Park - the ultimate destination to snatch that longed for respite from the pace of every day living. Awaiting you is private comfortable accommodation in an environment of natural beauty.
