Counselling, Relationship and Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy
Are you feeling stuck and defined by problems or conflict? Are issues getting in the way of your hopes for yourself personally, professionally or in all realms of your life?Narrative Therapy helps people to explore intentions for themselves, allowing them to move forward to their preferred directions. For me, counselling is about helping you/your partner/family to stand outside the gravitational pull of the issue so that you can have perspective and look at alternate possibilities that fit more for you and your hopes for yourself. My role is to work with you to explore issues and their contexts, and investigate preferred directions.Rather than 'being the expert' and imposing interpretation or being prescriptive, I enjoy taking a stance which is dynamic, non-judgemental and empowering of you. I want to draw on your knowledge and expertise and don't want to make assumptions, so will always be checking with you to ensure I understand what you are sharing with me and where you would like to go with the sessions. I am interested in your goals for therapy and structure my sessions accordingly. I find the hope and positivity that results from these ideas and work practices contagious. The therapy process as a result can provide a space for comfort, openness and the potential for discovering new territory.Coming from a background in community as well as private settings, I established In-Sight Narrative Therapy in June 2008. The practice is very dynamic, working with people and harnessing their resources and expertise to reject problem behaviours and discover alternate ways of responding. The practice also provides clinical supervision and training services, and I have many years experience running a variety of professional development and training initiatives, such as workshops, mentoring, peer consultation and supervision.
