In 1984 he received his Masters degree in Fine Arts from Yale University in the United States and in 1979 a BA in Industrial Design from Curtin University, Western Australia. He has received several grants and awards for his contribution to the arts, including the Visual Arts Creative Development Fellowship and a Green Room Award for Design in Melbourne
