In responding to this need, the Oblates established three Boys' Colleges, Iona in Brisbane and Mazenod Colleges in both Perth and Melbourne The Oblates arrived in Western Australia in 1894, taking charge of Fremantle Parish and a reform school Partners in Mission is a program of the Australian Province of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate which offers members of the Oblate Family the opportunity to work as part of an overseas Oblate Mission community,and develop their own faith by helping others and living in community as lay missionaries, for 6 months We are writing to you on behalf of the entire community of Oblate Youth Australia to express our deep sadness for the loss of your brother Fr John.. The Oblate pioneers of our Province, having established their base in Western Australia in 1894 with the parish of Fremantle and the school in Glendalough, set out preaching missions as well, to places like the Kalgoorlie gold fields and the remote Aboriginal communities of the Kimberley
