Reactions Are Faster than Actions Learning to defend yourself is all about having the awareness to see what is coming for you, and the training to know how to use your body's natural reactions to your advantage. Self Defence Australia's mission is to try and teach as many people, Men, women, and children, of all ages, the necessary skills to be able to defend yourself and stay safe in a worst-case scenario. Our focus is not on teach you 'how to punch hard' but rather we are trying to teach you the natural ways that you can use your body to see, block, hit and escape. In a time poor world, most people really do not have the time or patience to train for 4 years to learn how to defend yourself. Instead our classes can give you the skills and knowledge after 4 or 5 hours. This will give you're the basics so that you can train at home, with your partner or family, and be able to find a way to give you the strength and confidence while suiting people's busy lives. Survival after an attack is really 5-10 steps, if you can get them, then you get away. So we are trying to teach people how to get some space and get those steps
