Deep tissue massage is utilized specifically for the release of deep rooted patterns of tension. It uses similar strokes to that of relaxation massage, the difference being the strokes are slower as the pressure is increased and the movement is applied across the grain of the muscle instead of with the grain. Tension reduces the uptake of oxygen and nutrients into the muscles leading to inflammation. This builds up toxins in the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Anyone who has suffered from chronic pain in their muscles may benefit from a deep tissue massage. Reducing tension in the muscles through using deep tissue massage techniques helps increase the circulation and oxygen to the muscles, removing the toxins and helping the entire body function better. Be sure to drink plenty of water before and after treatment for the best results!
