Royal Perth Hospital Medical Research Foundation Incorporated
Medical Research, Clinical Trials, Medical Research Institute
The Royal Perth Hospital Medical Research Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that has been investing in biomedical research since 1983. The Foundation’s first major investment was in the late 1980s with the construction of a six-storey research facility in the Perth CBD dedicated to academic biomedical research.
This facility has become the epicentre and powerhouse of research on the Royal Perth Hospital campus. Its concentration of high quality investigators, conducting a mix of clinical and basic science, epidemiology and bio-statistical research, come from a number of institutions including The University of Western Australia, Curtin University and the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research.
Bringing these investigators together in the one purpose built location has encouraged a rich interaction and integration between the Foundation-based research activities and hospital clinical research, evidenced by more than 150 trials underway at the hospital at any one time.
