Owners of swimming pools and spas are required to provide a barrier that protects children from accessing the area. The Australian Standard AS 1926.1 – 1993 provides guidelines related to materials, design and location where the aim is to inhibit access under, over or through the fencing.
Tubular fencing is ideal for this purpose because it’s sturdy, long-lasting and can be manufactured to suit the spacing requirements. For example, in terms of vertical height, fences should be at least 1.2m above the ground surface and in regards to ground clearance and gaps between the vertical bars, they should not go beyond 100mm. Tubular pool fencing also doesn’t have any projections or indentations on the surface of the fence, which could be used to gain a foothold.
