October 2015- ITB friction syndrome
Lifecare Mount Pleasant Physiotherapy
Knee pain when running? Iliotibial band (ITB) friction syndrome is a common complaint in athletes. You first notice it towards the middle or end of your run as a pain on the outside of the knee. It may cause a “clicking” sensation as you bend your knee, and goes away after you’ve stopped running.
As it goes on, the pain gets worse, comes on earlier, and lasts for longer during activity. It is very important to get it managed early on to stop this from happening!
