About Us Mini Meerkats is offering a friendly, caring and nurturing home based family day care service for a small number of 2yo+ children 1-3 days per week. We are a two parent family with two boys of our own 3 and 5 years old. Philosophy The philosophy of my service is based upon the belief that each child is unique and deserves every opportunity to reach his/her potential. I believe in open communication with families to achieve what’s best for their child. I consider it is important for parents to be able to leave their child knowing they are in a nurturing, safe environment where they have an identity and a sense of belonging. Daily Routine Family Day Care is flexible and not rigid in the day’s schedule. The day may include activities such as: Construction (Lego, train sets, blocks) Imaginative – dress ups, home corner Puzzles, books Music, dancing, instruments Food preparation – healthy snacks or lunch Craft – painting, play dough, writing Outdoor play – ride-ons, sandpit, balls Free play Sleep/rest/quiet time Food and Nutrition We have a rotating meal plan every four weeks with a variety of nutritious meals and snacks. Fruit will be the main focus of morning and afternoon tea. Lunch time meals will be common home cooked foods or sandwiches and salad. Excursions As one of my own children attends primary school, Mini Meerkats has a daily excursion via car to complete the school pick up each afternoon. Other regular excursions will include but not be limited to visits to a local park, the library and Community Vision play group. Excursion forms will need to be completed and signed once every 12 months for regular excursions. Risk assessments are completed for all excursions and a copy will be given to parents. Children will be transported in my car. Children will be seated in age appropriate infant/child restraints which comply with Australian Standards. Children will be fully supervised at all times when on excursions. At no time will children be left unattended in the vehicle.
