The high particle velocity of the High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) thermal spray produces coatings that are extremely dense, having a porosity of less than one percent. The High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) thermal spray coating has a mechanical bond. The bond strength can be as high as 12,000 psi, which is attained by the high kinetic energy of the particles. This allows the application of dissimilar materials. Additionally, the amount of thermal input to the part being coated is minimal.
