Diesel Generators in Grain Handling
Generator, Diesel Generator, Gensets
Cargill, an international company involved in oilseed and meat processing, grain and oilseed storage and flour milling required a solution to a grain storage safety issue they had at various sites across Australia.
Once Cargill had identified a potential solution to the problem they approached PR Power to supply eleven 60kVA, sound attenuated, diesel generators up-fitted with fire extinguishers, wheel chocks, VSD and PLC controllers and mounted on read ready trailers. The trailer mounted gensets enabled easy transport between sites throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
Michael Rapkins, PR Power Generator Manager said “The problem faced by Cargill was at the grain storage point of the process. When the grain is stored in grain bunkers, temperatures and humidity gradually rise to a critical point which can cause the grain to ignite”.
To avoid this from occurring, when the bunker reaches a pre-specified temperature and humidity level, the PR Power diesel generators will automatically power up a series of heavy duty fans. The fans will generate sufficient air circulation throughout the grain bunker, cooling it down to safe temperature and humidity levels.
