The Certificate III in Swimming Pool & Spa Service and the Certificate IV in Swimming Pool & Spa Service have received Australian Government endorsement. These swimming pool industry courses have therefore become nationally recognised qualifications and are part of the Property Services Training Package. Certificate III in Swimming Pool & Spa Service is an entry-level qualification for technicians covering the competencies required for routine maintenance of swimming pools and spas. Certificate IV in Swimming Pool & Spa Service provides technicians with the competencies to treat water quality problems, service and repair key components of domestic, commercial and public swimming pools and spas. The course consists of 20 units of competency. Twelve are core units and 8 are electives. Craig Dickson, General Manager at Hydramet comments “Hydramet is pleased to have taken part in the consultation process of the new qualification with the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council and is delighted to confirm that the NWP277A Work Safely with Liquefied Chlorine Gas can be used as one of the electives towards the Certificate IV in Swimming Pool & Spa Service.” NWP277A Work Safely with Liquefied Chlorine Gas is designed for those with a specific responsibility for disconnecting and connecting liquefied chlorine gas containers. The unit of competency is an ideal elective for aquatic sites using chlorine gas disinfection as it covers the requirements for working safely with liquefied chlorine gas, including the safe changeover of gas containers, the safe transport, handling and storage of liquefied chlorine gas containers and the implementation of emergency procedures.
