The Dynamite Project was a collaborative project, working with a local artist and funded by The Scottish Arts Council and North Ayrshire Council. The project centered around Alfred Nobel’s connections with the dynamite factories of North Ayrshire. Local school children embarked upon a research project to visit people and places in the area that had a connection with the Nobel prize categories: Physics, Chemistry, Medicine and Physiology, Literature and Peace. The research and project were then documented in a book, DVD and a series of creative and educational workshops. The book is part of the showcase created to document the project. Using typography and illustration to capture the essence of the project and the people involved, we also wanted the book to have the appearance of a school exercise book, using uncoated paper stocks throughout to give the book a beautifully crafted finish.
