Upper Reach Winery
Award Winning Wines
Upper Reach has been chosen by Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine as the BEST Tasting Experience in the Swan Valley.
Gourmet Traveller WINE have informed us that this accolade is awarded to the best offering of a tasting experience and is focused on the quality of the wines available for tasting.
Now in its third year, Gourmet Traveller WINE’s Cellar Door Awards is a fantastic guide for wine lover’s to ensure they have best possible experience in whichever wine region they find themselves.
Australia’s leading wine writers including Mike Bennie, Peter Bourne, Tyson Stelzer, Peter Forrestal, David Brookes, Jeni Port and Ken Gargett traversed the country to check in on every wine region and determine the star cellar doors, best tasting experiences and who serves the finest food in Australia’s diverse and evolving wine scene.
In determining the award recipients, Gourmet Traveller WINE writers searched for the most outstanding cellar doors by judging the quality of wine, staff knowledge and service, stemware, food, atmosphere, venue.
It’s a pretty tough selection criteria and we’re delighted to be once again mentioned.
In 2014, Peter Forrestal: Gourmet Traveller WINE wrote:
“The ambiance draws you in with its tranquil riverside location on the upper reaches of the Swan, well-maintained lawns and vineyard, and smart cellar door and cafe. There’s a stamp of class about the place thanks to the use of jarrah, floor-to-ceiling windows ensuring lots of natural light, air-conditioning, Riedel stemware and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Book one of the private tours with owner, Laura Pearse (Mon-Fri only). Onsite is Broads Restaurant, one of the best places to dine in the Valley. Chef Anthony Broad’s menu is built around fresh, light, delicious small plates, while Annalis Broad’s desserts prove difficult to resist. The wines reflect the improvements in the quality of the best of the Swan Valley’s producers with the pick of the crop being the succulent, bright verdelho, stunning shiraz and the new-wave petit verdot and tempranillo”
