Contemporary Garden Design
Jane Darling Desings
The design for Para Street was created and installed late in 2009. The Garden was created to compliment the modern style of the newly built house. The plant palette was kept relatively simple, and the colours limited to mid greens and burgandy.
Leafy green Cycads were positioned as a feature at each window along the front of the house. These were under planted with Loropetalum chinense ‘China Pink’, the delicate burgundy foliage creating a nice contrast. This contrast in colour and foliage was repeated along the fence line with Murraya panniculatum under planted with the larger leafed Heuchera 'Purple Palace'.
On the opposite side of the garden the contrast in colour and texture was reversed with Acer Palmatum 'Atropurpureum' under planted with the lovely delicate ground cover Viola hederacea.
The backyard design was again kept simple with a row of Pyrus calleryana ‘Capital’ planted along the east fence line which faces the outdoor al fresco area. Syzygium australe were planted along the south fence while Liriope ‘Evergreen Giant’, Acanthus mollis and Trachelospermum jasminoides were positioned along the west fence line. The clients own sculpture piece was incorporated as a feature by the entertaining area.
