Silk Sea Dragons

For this year exhibition by the Ballarat Textile Network the theme is Under the Sea. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to a group installment of a coral key, for which I am making several sea dragons.  They will be hand painted in silk pongee using salt to replicate the surface of the dragons and  silk georgette being used for their flippers/fins.  Beading will be used to enhance  their fins and to give the impression of bubbles of water flowing past them.  They will be mounted amongst the branches of twisted willow to replicate  floating seaweed.  Hopefully any breeze in the conservatory where the exhibition is being held will assist with the "movement" of the flippers.  The one pictured is the first dragon and I hope to complete another couple in time for the exhibition, perhaps not as large as this one.  Complete with willow branches this one is nearly a metre tall.
