Just completed and sent for exhibition in the Ballarat Textile Network display to be held in the conservatory in the . This year’s theme is “A Coral Reef”
With this piece I have attempted to create the rolling seas above the reef by pleating, folding and binding the silk georgette around different forms. These forms have included various sizes of pipes, small stones and glass marbles.
I have tried to create the bubbling foaming of the seas against the rocks and the swirl of the water around the neckline of the garment
In striking colours of jade greens and deep blues, the steaming has allowed the penetration of the dyes into the silk enabling the colours to blend into different shades and tones.
This piece begs to be worn wrapped and tossed around the body allowing different shapes to be created reminiscent of the waves rolling around the coral reef which in this case is the human body.
After exhibition this piece will be offered for sale. The exhibition is on from the 2 July until the 10 July 2011
