Also just sent for exhibition in the Ballarat Textile Network display “A Coral Reef” is this piece of work inspired by seaweed and entitled "Limu" which I am led to believe is Hawaiian for seaweed?

Various sizes and shaped strips of hand painted silk are hung along various points of a main piece of material

Finished with beading to represent the bubbles of the seawater, it is also complimented by a piece of hand felted merino imbedded with silk pieces.  Rolled pieces of hand felting are also attached to hang down across the shoulders.

Both Habuitai and Pongee silk was used in this piece to assist with the creation of movement caused by the wearer walking around.  It is hoped that the lighter silk will float in the air.

This piece will also be offered for sale after exhibition, which runs from the 2 July until the 10 July 2011
