Mercure Harbourside Cairns Drives your Holiday Further with Petrol Savings

By: Mercure Hotels  11-Oct-2005

With the rising cost of petrol cited as one of the biggest pressures on the family budget, the Mercure Hotel Harbourside Cairns has become the first branded hotel to offer guests a 10 cent per litre discount with accommodation. The petrol price-busting package aimed squarely at the drive holiday market - starts from just $169 per room per night for a harbour view room including full breakfast for two plus a 10c per litre discount on fuel at the local Mobil dealership, Trinity Petroleum. Its just $149 per night for a mountain view room. A recent NRMA survey found that 43% of people would consider changing their holiday plans because the impact rising petrol has had on their budgets. This package is one way to ensure people can still enjoy their holiday without breaking the bank. Obviously the high cost of petrol at the moment has the possibility of impacting on the tourism industry in a negative way so we are trying to show families they can still afford to take that much-awaited getaway, said General Manager David Wright. Already people can get discounts on petrol when shopping with a specific supermarket, but with the season for family holidays approaching, we wanted to take the bite out of the peak season by offering guests a discount on their fuel costs. Cairns is a very popular drive destination and with this special offer our guests will have more money to spend on their holiday instead of every cent going into the fuel tank. Superbly located on the Esplanade with views over Trinity Bay or the rainforest-clad mountains, Mercure Hotel Harbourside Cairns features an outdoor pool and spa and is within walking distance of the best attractions, restaurants and entertainment in town.
