Social Enterprise programs at the IMVC encourage young people to gain the skills, opportunities and capabilities they need to learn, work and engage. The IMVC currently operates two social enterprises within the inner Melbourne region - Avidity in Albert Park and the Latte Lounge Barista School in North Melbourne. Both businesses operate for a social purpose - to increase the engagement and social inclusion of young and marginalised members of the local community.
Avidity is a professional hair salon, operating three days per week and staffed by a team of highly skilled, passionate hair stylists and makeup artists. When the salon is closed, the salon is used for the delivery of the IMVC’s hair and makeup training programs and as a community hub for skill development and training. All surplus funds generated through Avidity’s operations are
re-invested back into the IMVC’s training programs.
The Latte Lounge Barista School is a training facility located within St Joseph’s Flexible Learning Centre in North Melbourne. The facility has been established to provide accessible, high quality training to people with an interest in gaining employment as a barista, or those simply wanting to learn more about coffee making.
As an organisation established to meet the needs of young people, the IMVC delivers social enterprise programs to further enhance our social contribution and diversify the opportunities available to young and at-risk individuals.
