Working within the constraints of covenants on the title allowed the team from Exclusive Homes to craft an award-winning property.
“Necessity is the master of invention,’’ Exclusive Homes director Liam Myers says.
“We came up with an imaginative and good-looking design that fit within the constraints of the covenant. We made it work and kept the neighbour happy,’’ he says.
The project in the beachside suburb of Parkdale won the 2010 HIA Victorian Renovations & Additions $450,000-$600,000 category and also took out the overall award of Victoria Renovations & Additions Project of the Year.
“The award is a stamp of approval from our peers – it’s not just me telling people how good we are,’’ Mr Myers says.
The team knew they could turn the semi-gutted property into something special once they put their heads together and recruited the help of architects Patrick Miceli Architecture.
“There’s nothing to fault about the home,’’ Mr Myers says.
“It’s an overall winning package with lots of wow factor. We’re very pedantic builders and have attention to detail on everything – it’s not just the product it’s the detail we put into the quality of the home.’’
The home is a complete package and combines a striking street aspect with an innovative interior and is topped off with stunning ocean views.
”Upstairs is amazing with an open floor plan – you’re too busy looking at the design then you turn around and there are the bay views,’’ Mr Myers says.
The home was also built using local tradespeople and materials all external cladding & decorative finishes we supplied by Chad Surface Coatings who have worked in well with the Exclusive Homes Team.
The awards were held at Crown Towers on November 5. Exclusive Homes will go on to represent Victoria in the renovations and additions category at the national awards to be held in Brisbane in May.
