On the 18th of November (2011) the Planning Bushfire Management Overlay (BMO) was introduced into the state of Victoria. The Bushfire Management Overlay (BMO) replaces the existing Wildfire Management Overlay (WMO), establishing new bushfire protection provisions based on mapped areas of high fire hazard. Ecotide are now trained and prepared to offer site assessments under the new Bushfire Management Overlay (BMO) regulation, in addition to the previous Wildfire Management Overlay (WMO). Reports are ready in approximately 4 weeks from the date of notification of the completion of the site preparation and pegging. Report prioritisation for 1-2 week turnaround is possible for urgent requests for an additional fee. Ecotide’s Bushfire Management Statement report features: o An assessment of the site through the BMO methodology; o New defendable space requirements; o Vegetation classifications based on the Australian Standard (AS3959-2009); o Detailed description of site, landscape and bushfire scenarios; o Permit specifications for access and water supply.
