Clinical Pilates

This is one-on-one personal pilates training supervised by a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist and Fully Certified Stott Pilates Instructor who has undergone specific training to deal with Injuries and Special Populations. Exercises combine the use of matwork, cadillac, pilates chair and the rehab reformer which is set higher off the ground to accommodate clients with less mobility which may prevent them from comfortably using a lower reformer. The addition of the vertical frame, which enables the use of cadillac based exercises, allows for freer multidimensional movement, greater exercise repertoire and sport specific training. Sports specific plyometric exercises can also be included using the jumpboard and rotational disc board. Modifications and small props such as resistance bands, foam rollers, toning balls, swiss balls, balance discs and the bosu are also used when needed. We recommend clinical pilates for clients with pregnancy, specific injuries or illnesses, postural imbalances, sport specific goals or those who just need some quality one-on-one time to help refine their pilates practise. 1:1 Initial clinical pilates sessions combined with remedial therapy run for 60 minutes and include a postural assessment, muscle and orthopedic testing and soft tissue therapy where required. All follow up clinical sessions run for 50 minutes. As you progress through your training and rehabilitation, your instructor will work closely with you to determine when it is suitable for you to attend a regular Clinical Small Group Pilates session. For more information on how clinical pilates may benefit your condition, or to see if you can claim private health insurance for your session, please call or email our clinic.
