WISC COGNITIVE ASSESSMENT Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children -Fourth Edition (WISC-IV) The WISC-IV is an individually administered intelligence test for children between the ages of 6 and 16 inclusive that can be completed without reading or writing. The WISC-IV takes 60-90 minutes to administer and generates an IQ score which represents a child’s general cognitive ability. The Full Scale IQ score is composed of the scores from four cognitive domains important for intellectual functioning in children, namely: the Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI), Perceptual Reasoning Index (PRI), Working Memory Index (WMI) and the Processing Speed Index (PSI). Please note that the WISC-IV does not measure academic ability or abilities associated with reading, sporting skills, personal characteristics, and emotional functioning.
