For years, companies believed that sales training was a “nice-to-have” rather than a “must have.” There are several strategic reasons an organisation should invest in sales training. Sales fundamentals such as prospecting, needs assessment, qualification, nurturing, designing offers/solutions, through to closing the sale. Having these corporate procedures in place and also formally passed onto employees will remove any awkward situations later (even legal). Team Skills: Selling combines both technical skills, but also creative and personable values. Not everyone has this, nor can be trained for it. By providing training in leadership, team-building and communication skills, employees will be better equipped to showcase companies’ products/services and the use of their persuasive sales skills. It's also a great way to weed out the weak links in your sales team and provide them more targeted or focused training. Motivation: Developing that "Go-Get" attitude. Sales is a high-pressure job that leads to success and also many failures. Managing the highs and lows across a team is important in controlling these frustrations.
