DON’T Launch Digital Marketing Campaigns until you have READ THIS! Robert Durrant: rev™ Sales & Marketing Acceleration (September 2015) OUR Website got HACKED! But it was one of the most fortunate things that happened to our company (rev™ Sales & Marketing Acceleration)? The glass half empty approach was ALL the work that was required to create a new Website, even though we still had all the content. However, the glass half full outlook was how it gave the retail e-v team an amazing opportunity to start fresh. This time we could plan in a more strategic way how the Website forms the foundation of our entire Digital Marketing Strategy moving forward. In the past, we simply patched up the site to make it handle digital marketing, sales and branding initiatives e.g. subscription pages, landing pages, blogs, SEO and pixeling functions. Over time, it was becoming unmanageable, and I'd liken it to 'ripping band-aids off your skin' every time we had to change something or do new things around Digital Marketing. Learning #1: We did things a lot smarter, earlier! This website has been build "structurally correct" this time. We had spent a lot of time getting the architecture right before we started to apply content. Each page has been optimised for SEO but designed to support digital marketing functions such as remarketing and pixeling. Learning #2: We sourced tools that extend the value of the Website! Rather than building our site to do functions it hasn’t been designed for, we partnered with best of breed solutions such as HootSuite for Social Media Management, Click Funnels and MailChimp for sales funnels, email and registration pages. Other tools for SEO optimisation and Spelling and Grammar. Learning #3: We documented the process and tools along the way! Unlike the past, this time we noted all the steps and tasks that are ESSENTIAL to get the foundation right FIRST. This documentation has been crucial to managing this project and ensuring that ALL the steps, tasks and elements that often get forgotten about, didn't.
