The nationally recognised course code is HLTFA301B Apply first aid, but it is more commonly known as Level 2 or Senior first aid. The course costs $99.00 per participant.
According to the , this is the minimum acceptable level of training for first aid officers for workplaces.
There are no pre-requisites for this course, which means that you
don't need Level 1 first aid or any other course qualification to enrol.
You can do the course as either:
- * a three hour practical session, with no prior study (note: you do need to prove your competency in first aid theory), OR
A longer course made up of between 2 to 6 hours of on-line home-study
PLUS a single 5-hour practical session, held in the Melbourne CBD. That
means that classes starting at 8:00am finish at 1:30pm, and classes
that start at 10:00am end at 3:30pm.
This qualification is valid for three (3) years from the date of
issue, however the Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that you
update the CPR component of the course annually.
