Garage Door Cable Replacement
Garage Door, Garage Door Repair, Cable Replacement
The lifting of a panel door is done in part by the cables in conjunction with the springs and opener, so when the cables have broken, the springs are useless and the opener left turning.
The cables snap sometimes due to wear and tear, maybe if you live close to a beach as the salty air has corroded the cables or maybe your doors has been out of alignment, which may have caused it to fray. Our service technicians will be able to find out why.
Replacing the panel cable is a dangerous and difficult job if you are not mechanically minded. Remember that the springs are capable of lifting over 100Kg and it is highly recommended that the replacement of your cable should be done by a trained technician.
Here is a check-list of relevant information when enquiring about cable replacements:
1. The make/brand of the door. EG: Stramit, Gliderol, B&D.
2. A current description of the state of the door. eg. “the door seems to be tilted to one side and some hinges are broken.”,“ The door has become stuck half way up, and the cable has become tangled on one side”.
