Debriefing should occur after a critical incident occurs in the workplace, with the individual and the team if at all possible. Debriefing should occur between 3-7 days after the incident has occurred. I can conduct debriefing either at my office, or at your workplace and offer flexible hours for sessions. The average session lasts approximately 2 hours and is usually enough to aid recovery. Debriefing aims to: Stabilise the emotional state. Analyse the problem (compartmentalise it) Identify resources, strengths, supports. Develop a plan to start to deal with (a part of) the problem. Develop a plan for follow up and ongoing support. Evaluate progress. The service is entirely CONFIDENTIAL, feedback is not given to management unless expressly agreed by the employee. I will provide a recommendation to the employer about whether further support may be necessary.
