Melinda Ceresoli, (pronouned CHE-re-soli), is a specialist contemporary singing & piano teacher, and vocologist.

Born into a family of professional musicians, Melinda started performing in her teens, as a singer and pianist. She has performed hundreds of live gigs and numerous studio sessions, mostly radio and TV jingles. She is a singing and piano teacher with over 20 years experience, and has taught classroom music in various educational settings, including schools (K-12), university & TAFE and preschool programs.

Melinda was, until recently, Head of Voice and Aural Studies at Box Hill Institute, Centre for Creative Industries. She has been a voice examiner for Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB), and a VCAA consultative panel member for VCE Music Peformance. She has held committee positions for the Austrailan National Association of Teachers of Singing (ANATS) and the Association of Music Educators, Victoria (aMuse).

Melinda's passion for helping students develop a musical ear, led to the creation of her book & CD series, called "VCE Musicianship Essentials", which have sold over 13,000 copies in Victoria.

Melinda is Australia's first certified "vocologist", from the National Centre of Voice and Speech, at the University of Utah, where she studied with world renowned voice scientist, Prof Ingo Titze. She has also completed voice disorders studies with Dr Katherine Verdolini, Professor of Communication Science and Disorders, University of Pittsburgh.

Melinda continues to teach several VCE contemporary voice students each year, however Melinda's main focus is teaching kids and teens with autism or other special needs, including kids with speech challenges.

Melinda & ASD/spec needs:
Melinda's first experience with teaching students with autism was over 10 years ago, when she was a school music teacher. One of her schools had a large "inclusion program", and classroom teachers received a great deal of training in teaching kids with diverse needs. She worked side-by-side with integration aids and parents, to help divise individual learning plans, and to create resources for her students. Over the years, Melinda's interest in teaching learners with special needs has grown. However, it is in the past 18 months that Melinda has focussed her private studio teaching on kids and teens with various learning needs, particularly kids with autism, and speech problems.

In 2015, Melinda founded "Sing-Swing-Play", a non-profit music program for preschoolers with autism. The program started with group classes and then moved to one-to-one lessons, so as to focus on the individual needs of each child.

Melinda has experience working with kids with Down Syndrome, Retts Syndrome, Tourette Syndrome, intellectual disability, physical dsiability and speech disorders. She is a volunteer music tutor at a Melbourne special school, which she absolutely loves!

Melinda's interest in autism and music led to her postgraduate study, to determine how learning singing and piano could benefit students with autism. This is a work in progress, however, the benefits are being observed every week in her studio.

Melinda is currently undertaking an ABA / RBT course (through the Institute of Behavioural Training), to better assist her music students, who are currently in ABA or early intervention programs.
