The definition of shiatsu is finger pressure. In using shiatsu on particular parts of the body, following the meridian system and pressure points, the practitioner aims to aid the body in rediscovering its natural energetic flow. This is what shiatsu is to me. My intention is solely based on benefiting the health of my clients in every session.

JAPANESE NEEDLE THERAPY
I am qualified in Dr Manaka’s Japanese needle therapy protocols. Dr Manaka spent his entire life working in the medical field with both western and oriental therapies. His legacy are his protocols, which can involve devices, insertive or non insertive (Moxibustion, Cupping, Sotai and many more) whose purpose is to recalibrate the ions in the body, therefore rebalancing the body’s system.

JAPANESE BATH / OFURO:
Humans are naturally attracted to water and warmth. Soaking one’s body is incredibly therapeutic in itself. The warm deep water of the Japanese bath also helps to prepare the body to receive the full benefits of a treatment. I like to provide the opportunity for people to have a quiet space where they can sit in a warm deep soaking bath either before a treatment or as a treatment in itself.

As a husband and father of two young children living in the city I can well appreciate the stresses of daily life and how easy it is to be too busy and to lose touch with one’s core. Shiatsu helps to restore your connection with yourself, by working on your body’s natural rhythm and by providing holistic care and complete client focus for an extended period.
In the Australian Shiatsu College I was trained in the traditional Chinese skills of tongue, pulse and Hara diagnosis as well as an understanding of the body based on Traditional Chinese Medical Theory and acupoint theory. In my practice I employ my knowledge of acupoints throughout the body and use different techniques to activate them and restore the body’s energetic balance.
I am a member of the Shiatsu Therapists Association of Australia http://www.staa.org.au/ whose function is to ensure high standards of practice in this field, including compliance with high standards of client focused professional and ethical behavior.
I look forward to meeting you and working with you to help you find your optimum level of balance.
