This painting is a Key work in the series of impressions of Inland Australia, incorporating  the 1932 Expedition to discover Lasseter's gold reef. The paintings are made with raw pigments, sand and earth, Saltbush leaves, from the Alice Springs area, also collaged copies of Argus newspaper cuttings reporting on the progress of the expedition. The painting is Encaustic on linen on Cedar stretcher.
