With a number of salons in your area, how do you make a great first impression to attract and keep customers? Marketing aside, how your business appears is important. Does your storefront look attractive? Clean windows, easy to read signage and even pretty ferns, flowers and other greenery can create a pleasing aesthetic appearance that looks inviting. Of course, the salon equipment and furniture you choose indoors also contribute to your business's overall ambiance.
The Reception Area
The first face a customer typically sees is the receptionist or assistant that handles the telephone, scheduling and likely even payment collection. A nice salon reception desk is crucial as is comfortable furniture in the waiting area for customers such as ottomans or lounges.
Typically, retail shelves are also located in the reception area. Creating an attractive display for the shampoos, brushes and other specialty styling products entices customers to want to purchase extra items to ensure they can keep up with their new hairstyles.
The Work Space
Beyond the reception area is where all the hair "magic" happens so it is important that the installed hairdressing equipment is not only in good condition but also organised and sensible. Do you have shampooing units with chairs or recliners that offer maximum comfort for your clients? What about the salon chairs or cutting stools? Do they offer hydraulic adjustment to accommodate clients of varying heights?
Tools of the beauty trade that are organised and easily accessible are important. Disarray is not attractive and can be quite a turn-off for clients. Using trolleys with drawers to arrange your combs, brushes and other styling tools not only ensures your beauty consultants can easily locate items but also promotes an air of efficiency.
Beyond your typical salon equipment for sale for styling hair, there are also additional furniture pieces to consider, depending on the amenities you offer. For instance, if you plan to offer nail services, a pedicure chair is important. For facials and even massages, a beauty bed and massage table is needed. A hot towel cabinet, facial steamer and special lamps are additional pieces of beauty equipment that can be useful.
Being sufficiently equipped for all of the salon services you offer is quite important. However, the fancy tables and chairs will do no good if those first impressions of your storefront and reception area are not pleasing and attractive. Before your grand opening, walk through your business with the eyes of what a client might expect. In addition, some trial runs before opening to the public can help you identify any areas that could use some improvements too.
