Jason Wood Commits $500,000 to Upwey Tecoma Community
Jason Wood, Liberal Candidate for La Trobe, today announced that a Federal Coalition government will provide $500,000 in funding toward a new pavilion for the Upwey Tecoma Community Recreational Sporting Hub.
“Our funding commitment means local sports players, a range of community groups including Probus and Kidfest as well as Upwey Primary and Secondary School students, will now have access to state of the art facilities close to home,” Mr Wood said.
“The $500,000 commitment to build a new sports pavilion will assist in meeting the needs of more than 3000 people the facility will serve locally.
“Currently, many local community groups don’t have a permanent home so I am glad that my advocacy on behalf of the local community ensures the project will be delivered.
“The new pavilion will also support a variety of local sporting teams including football, netball, cricket and taekwondo into the foreseeable future.
“I’ve worked hard, along with members of UTCRASH and the local community, for many years to see this project come to fruition.
The project will be delivered through a funding partnership with the Dandenong Ranges Community Bank which has contributed $250,000 to this project.
The sports pavilion will not only cater for local sports teams but will also act as a meeting place in times of natural disaster.
“For communities in La Trobe, such as Upwey, the threat of bush fire is something that locals have to deal with every year and this facility will act as a meeting place for locals in times of natural disaster.”
Only Jason Wood as part of the Coalition team is dedicated to getting Australia back on track and building stronger communities in La Trobe.
