Mosaic Couch Project – “Aunty Connie” West Coast HomeCare know how important it is for people to stay socially connected and involved in their local communities. The Eyre Connections program promotes healthy aging through activities that involve ongoing learning, health and wellbeing, creativity and having fun. The COTA Every Generation Festival is South Australia’s largest community festival, held annually in October across the state celebrating and championing all aspects of positive ageing. This year West Coast HomeCare are inviting the community to celebrate the launch of a community arts project that a small group of older woman from Tumby Bay and Port Lincoln have been involved in for the past 3 months. The Mosaic Couch Project has provided an opportunity for the women to learn basic mosaic skills and to work with local artist Karen Carr to develop a life size couch made from hebel stone and mosaicked with coloured tiles. The couch is located on the lawn area at St Thomas Anglican Church cnr Washington St and Adelaide Place Port Lincoln. In 2015 Aunty Connie and West Coast HomeCare were the proud winners of the Every Generation Festival – Southern Cross Care Creative Arts Award.
