Ground Source heat pumps
Geothermal Heating, Ground Source Cooling, Geo Thermal Cooling,
Ground Source Heat Pumps are commonly referred to as geothermal heating and cooling.
Ground source heat pumps are high efficiency heating and cooling system that uses moderate, stable temperatures located in the ground to heat and cool your building.
Geothermal Heating and Cooling
In Adelaide, the temperature throughout the year varies from hot dry summers to cool winters. While the temperature of the air can change dramatically the temperature below ground stays fairly consistent all year.
The ground is able to maintain a higher rate of temperature consistency because it absorbs 47% of the suns energy (heat) as it hits the Earth’s surface. With Ground Source heat pumps we are able to tap into this free energy with an earth loop. With this we can provide your home with hydronic heating, Warm and cool air conditioning and hot water.
During the heating cycle, A geothermal heat pump uses the earth loop to extract heat from the ground. As the system pulls heat from the loop it distributes it through a ducting as warm air or can also be used for a radiant hydronic floor heating, radiator heating or domestic hot water heating.
In the cooling mode, the process is reversed – Cool air is dispersed throughout the home just like traditional air conditioning. Instead of extracting heat from the ground, heat is extracted from the air in your home and either moved back into the earth loop, or used to preheat the water in your hot water tank.
