In a client centred appraoch to counselling, the focus is on the client; developing an understanding of where the client is currently; and relating to what the client is seeking to achieve. Rather than the focus being on a "solution" to a perceived problem.
If a client presents for anxiety or depression for example, the counselling is directed at guiding the client to an understanding of the causes of these experiences. So that ultimately the client is able to release these feelings of 'anxiety' or 'depression' and live a more positive experience.
