WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT FROM A BUILDING INSPECTOR?
A role of a building inspector should be to provide the client with enough information and knowledge to allow them to make an informed and confident decision when purchasing a house.
For a thorough inspection of the property it should take the inspector on average between one and a half hours to three hours depending on the size of the property.
A professional inspector will allow the client to join him at some stage of the inspection so he can answer any questions the client may have first hand regarding the property and also point out and explain any faults or defects on the property, and explain how these have occurred and how to rectify any problems and prevent further problems occurring in the future.
The inspector should also provide a written report with a summary of items that may need addressing
