*FOUNDATIONS OF TRIBAL FUSION BELLYDANCE* This 10 week series of classes is aimed at beginner dancers who are interested in exploring this unique and ever-expanding style of dance. In these classes we will work on increasing body awareness, building core strength, posture and coordination, ease of movement and creating a strong foundation in the essential skills to bellydance. This course focuses on body isolations, hip lifts, drops, glute work, shimmies, chest and shoulder pops and locks, pelvic and back tucks, chest and hip figure eights, plus tribal posture, arms, hands and turns. There is a strong emphasis on safety, technique and posture. Attention will be given to breaking down concepts of movement, as well as clear breakdown of technique and understanding of body mechanics that prevent injury and improve dance form. Foundation classes start Thursday February 2nd (6:30-7:30pm) for 10 weeks. *DEVELOPING YOUR DANCE* This collaborative and interactive series of classes has a focus on move invention and exploration. The 10 week program is aimed at dancers who are interested in taking control of their dance and releasing their creativity. Grounding our movement in the bellydance repertoire we will create and invent original moves by experimenting with sound and the natural response the body has to music. Working as a group we will develop combinations and moves that we will combine to create a full choreography over the course of the term. Using a range of exercises we will warm up with drilling foundation steps and then developing them further in creative ways and adding personal touches. Developing classes start Tuesday January 31st (6:30-7:30pm) for 10 weeks. *YOGA FOR DANCERS* Melanie shares her passion of dance with us all, and is looking forward to sharing some yoga with us to help our bodies back into balance after dancing. She has studied many forms of bellydance over the years and encourages a yoga practise with dance practise as do many professional dancers. Melanie graduated with a diploma in yoga teaching and zen shiatsu therapy after nearly three years of training in Sydney. She teaches a blend of Ki, Hatha and Vinyasa in her teaching to provide safe and gentle techniques to optimise the health of your body. Yoga cool downs will be offered at the end of both classes from 7.30-8:00pm.
