Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine are not magic bullets. Mental health conditions are complex and a true multi modality approach is frequently necessary. If you have tried other modalities and they have not been effective for you, or if you simply feel that you are not a ‘talk therapy’ kind of person (although this certainly isn’t all that psychologists and counsellors do) I strongly encourage you to try Acupuncture. Different techniques work differently for different people. Anxiety, depression and associated mental health disorders are estimated by the World Health Organisation to be the largest growing health issue worldwide and to be the largest cause of disability by 2030. The World Health Organisation has detailed that many non drug, traditional medicines should be more comprehensively utilised and integrated into main stream health care, due to equal and sometimes better efficiency than the most currently used methods, and has specifically mentioned Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture as the best researched options of these.
