At the Southport Magistrates Court recently a client of Pine Rivers Traffic Lawyers pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving and unlicensed driving.
Lawyer, Peter Cobb explained to the court that his client was originally detected by police speeding at twice the temporary posted speed limit in a roadside construction area. "Following direclty behind was an unmarked police vehicle for quite a while". Mr Cobb said.
"Our client believed that the way that the driver was handling the other car, that he was being challenged to a street race and then crossed onto the incorrect side of roadway." The driver was then pulled over by police who conducted licence checks. "To the police officers amazement, it was revealed that my client had amassed a total of 55 demerit points in a one month period via fixed speed cameras while driving through the Clem 7 tunnel with a defective speedometer. Some blokes have no luck at all." Mr Cobb stated outside of the court.
Comments from the Magistrate indicated that a term of imprisonment was within range. Owing to explanation by Mr Cobb, the driver was issued with a fine to reflect the seriousness of the offence and a period of disqualfication for the dangerous drive.
