A male from Shorncliffe was recently picked up by police for driving while his licence was suspended. The male who faced Court in March 2011 claimed that he had no idea that his licence was suspended. "My client was charged with driving whilst suspended. The only problem was that he believed that his licence was current." Pine Rivers Traffic Lawyer Jamie Whitehead advised. "My client moved on numerous occassions in both 2009 and 2010 and advised Qld Transport of his moves sporadically. There was an arrangement that a friend of my clients would collect the mail for him from the previous addresses. My client was never alerted that his licence was going to be suspended for the non payment of fines." Mr Whitehead later advised, "This is not like a drink drive offence, when a person immediatley receives notice that their licence is suspended. This is an example of the need to keep your personal affairs in order."
The male who is believed to be pleading guilty faces a further period of suspension after his next court appearance.
