PINE RIVERS TRAFFIC LAWYERS
An elderly gentleman was recently charged with driving his car with number plates from another vehicle, whilst the car was unregistered and uninsured.
The male who was born in Egypt, instructed Pine Rivers Traffic Lawyers, that as he been in Australia since 1978, he did not know that it was an offence to drive with cancelled plates on his car. His solicitor Jamie Whitehead submitted that the circumstances of the offence were unique, however the version provided by his client was certainly plausible.
"My client instructs that this sort of thing occurred in Alexandria all of the time when he was driving over there. I am instructed that he was not aware that there were any such laws precluding him from using another cars number plates. When my client entered Queensland in 1978, I am instructed that there were no such lessons on number plate requirements."
The gentleman, was extremely remorseful and wished to convey his apologies to the court for wasting its time.
The gentleman received a small fine.
