Art therapy has the agility to be both gentle, and powerful. Art therapy is like counselling, but using a range of art media to express your thoughts and feelings. The process of creating can be relaxing, expressive, cathartic, and enlightening. The art product can then be viewed from different perspectives to gain insight and meaning.
Art therapy is not about the therapist judging or interpreting your art, and it is not about creating beautiful or perfect art. It is about expressing what is true and real for you. Art therapy can be very helpful for people who find it difficult to communicate with words, or people who have tried 'talk therapies' and have not found them useful.
Art therapy is for adults and children, men and women.
