Aboriginal Art Gallery
Gallery friends and local collectors, including the well-travelled Paul and Helen Cooney, have been invited to select artworks from the FireWorks Gallery stockroom, presenting a refreshing approach to contemporary Indigenous and non-Indigenous art from all around the country.
FireWorks Gallery emerged from artistic networks in the Northern Territory and Queensland in the early 1990s. Since its inception, the gallery has continued to represent artists from both urban and remote areas, featuring artists from Papunya Tula, Yuendumu, Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane and beyond. The depth and diversity of the stockroom portrays the gallery’s commitment to blurring the boundaries between Indigenous and non-Indigenous art over the past twenty years.
The opening event for Eclectica 2 will be held on Saturday 30 April, 2-4pm. The gallery will also be open the first Sunday of the exhibition on 1 May, 11am-4pm.
