Stuttering is usually detected when a child is 2 or 3 years of age, just as they are starting to put words together. Stuttering can naturally recover, but natural recovery is unpredictable. Due to natural recovery, it is generally recommended to wait 6 months post onset before commencing therapy. Research currently indicates the best time to treat stuttering by 6 years of age, with the Lidcombe Program of Early Stuttering Intervention being the therapy of choice for preschool children. Please see website for more information and please do not hesitate to contact Donna with any queries or to make an appointment.
