Tanya utilizes nutritional support, massage therapy and lifestyle care within her acupuncture treatments to achieve optimal results for the presenting health condition. Traditional Chinese Medicine encompasses a system of medicine that specifcally foccusses on the body's energy referred to as 'life force' or in Chinese medicine terms 'qi'. This is based on a 2000 year old diagnosis of signs and symptoms, tongue observation, palpation of the radial pulse and the affected area on the body, yin-yang imbalance, the individual’s constitution and other lifestyle factors. Sterile one-use Acupuncture needles are inserted into appropriate points on the body to rebalance the individuals 'qi' which therefore creates free flowing energy and harmonizes imbalances. Other techniques used (see below). Acupuncture can alleviate or ease: Pain in the body Shoulder, neck, lower back, knee pain Headache/migraine Digestive upset Menstrual irregularity / pain Premenstrual syndrome / endometriosis Low energy Stress Male and female fertility Anxiety / depression Insomnia Rehabilitation Sports / work related injury

Moxibustion, Cupping and Gua Sha

Moxibustion is applied to warm and stimulate the point/needle and can also be used in larger areas on the body to help promote blood flow, thus increasing the healing of damaged tissues. Generally administered within most of Tanya's acupuncture treatments. Cupping and Gua Sha are Chinese medicine techniques used to assist in musculoskeletal conditions, digestive health, moving lymphatic fluids and circulation. They are generally administered alongside acupuncture and massage therapy.
